Unimate, the Ground-Breaking Factory Robot
In 1961, General Motors started using the first modern industrial robot. The robot, named Unimate, had a single arm that was used for spot welds on a Ewing, NJ assembly line. In 2003, Unimate was inducted into the Robot Hall of Fame.
